Imports of Renewable Diesel increased to start off 2024 per EIA. The rise of renewable fuels has begun to soak up demand for higher petroleum blends of fuel, as many cities around the country are beginning to develop renewable fuel standards. Many cities within the Pacific Northwest are leading this charge as The City of Portland has continued its push for completely renewable diesel by 2030.

All diesel fuel distributed to retail stations, non-retail dealers, or wholesale purchaser-consumers must include a minimum of 15% biofuel content, from either renewable diesel or biodiesel. This requirement increases to 50% on May 15, 2026, and 99% on May 15, 2030”.
