Fuel prices have been mostly stagnant this week, trickling down from still record high fuel prices across the nation. These record high fuel prices are putting real limitations on average US Citizens, as we roll into the midterm elections and constituents are unhappy fuel costs and their representatives
After being briefly purposed by President Trump the idea of a “federal diesel export ban” is no longer going to be put into place, thankfully. An export ban would not deliver cheaper fuel. It would further bottleneck supply domestically, as refiners would produce less crude with no international demand to fulfill.
Drivers in the Portland area are still seeing gas around $5.18/gal & diesel over $6.79/gal. The highest diesel price in the history of Oregon was $6.848/gal on 09/24/2026. In Seattle, gas prices are $5.66/gal, (over $1.30 per gallon higher than the national average), with diesel hovering around $7.49/gal. California & Washington have the highest fuel prices in the nation currently.

Important Note: Per the City Of Portland, “Distributors in the City of Portland are required to meet the minimum biofuel content requirements for all fuel they distribute beginning on May 15, 2024. All diesel fuel distributed to retail stations, non-retail dealers, or wholesale purchaser-consumers must include a minimum of 15% biofuel content, from either renewable diesel or biodiesel. This requirement increases to 50% on May 15, 2026, and 99% on May 15, 2030”.
