Fuel prices are record high across the nation. The United States federal oil reserve is currently 32% less than it was in March. With record high fuel prices, logistic supply that affect every day Americans are skyrocketing in their costs to operate. These prices will soon trickle down into prices of food, metals and anything being hauled on a diesel powered semi truck. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), trucks ship 83% of agricultural products and 92% of dairy, fruit, vegetables, and nuts in the United States.
Drivers in the Portland area are still seeing gas around $5.15/gal & diesel over $6.84/ga, the highest diesel price ever recorded in Oregon. In Seattle, gas prices are $5.65/gal, over $1 per gallon higher than the national average, with diesel hovering around $7.43/gal. California & Washington have the highest fuel prices in the nation currently.
For the first time in history, the national average price for diesel is $6.51 per gallon. This hits American logistics and transportation extremely hard, while the federal oil reserve is currently at 285.36M barrels, 32% less than it was in March at 415.44M barrels. Important Note: Per the City Of Portland, “Distributors in the City of Portland are required to meet the minimum biofuel content requirements for all fuel they distribute beginning on May 15, 2024. All diesel fuel distributed to retail stations, non-retail dealers, or wholesale purchaser-consumers must include a minimum of 15% biofuel content, from either renewable diesel or biodiesel. This requirement increases to 50% on May 15, 2026, and 99% on May 15, 2030”.
